Fallen Tree on Jalan Sisingamangaraja Promptly Handled

Dozens of joint personnel handled the evacuation of a fallen mahogany tree on Jalan Sisingamangaraja, Gunung Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru Sub-district, South Jakarta.

"They were very quick and responsive,"

Gunung Urban Village Head, Elvita Rahmadani Rangkuti, informed that the fallen tree blocked the road and Transjakarta bus lane at around 10:27 AM.

"We deployed 30 PPSU personnel to the location to evacuate the tree, in collaboration with personnel from the South Jakarta City Park and Forestry and Fire and Rescue Sub-agencies," she said on Thursday (11/20).

Elvita explained that the mahogany tree, about 20 meters tall and 350 centimeters in diameter, likely fell due to rotting roots caused by termite infestation.

"This condition left the roots unable to support the large tree when strong winds hit," she added.

She also mentioned that one car was hit by the tree, causing its windshield to break.

"There were no casualties in the incident. We have also fully assisted with moving the car and evacuating the passengers inside. Hopefully, incidents like this will not happen again,” she asserted.

Mulyadi, a local resident, commended the prompt action by the joint personnel that quickly cleared the road.

"They were very quick and responsive. The fallen tree was immediately removed using a truck," he noted.
